Peterborough OPP have charged a driver after an accident on New Year’s Day.

At approximately 5 a. m., officers were called to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Stenner Road in Douro-Dummer Township.

The caller told police that a man had arrived at their home saying he crashed his vehicle. The man eventually returned to the vehicle after police had been contacted.

Upon arrival, officers spoke to the driver and determined him to be impaired. The man was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing where samples were provided over double the legal limit.

Matthew D’Entremont, a 26-year-old from Fraserville, was arrested and charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol over 80.

The accused has a court date set for the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for seven days.
