St. Thomas, Ont., police have brought 11 new charges against a chiropractor in the area as part of a growing sexual assault investigation involving 10 victims.
On June 23, police reported that Steven Perry, 57, had been charged with three counts of sexual assault and one count of forcible confinement after looking into complaints from several patients.
Since that announcement, eight more victims have come forward, according to police on Tuesday. Perry now faces nine additional charges of sexual assault and two counts of sexual exploitation.
This increases the total number of charges against him to 15, which includes 12 counts of sexual assault. Authorities mentioned they could not confirm whether any new complainants were patients.
Perry was taken into custody Monday morning and later released under certain conditions, according to police reports. The allegations have yet to be proven in court.
He is set to appear in court on Aug. 4 regarding the four charges announced last month.
Perry was previously disciplined by the College of Chiropractors of Ontario in 2006 after complaints from two patients in St. Thomas.
“Investigators continue to seek information regarding any unreported matters that may pertain to this case,” said Samantha Wakefield, spokesperson for St. Thomas police.
