Provincial police have confirmed the identity of a second victim in an ongoing murder investigation in Simcoe, Ontario.

The remains discovered last week in a wooded area off Highway 6, just west of Caledonia in Haldimand County, have been identified as belonging to 49-year-old Robert Sykes from Simcoe.

Authorities report that the cause of death was ruled as homicide.

Previously, the Ontario Provincial Police had stated that Sykes was reported missing and feared to be another casualty after a woman was found dead inside a home in Simcoe on October 5.

A 45-year-old man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder concerning the woman’s death, who has since been identified as his mother.

If anyone has information regarding this case, they are encouraged to reach out to the OPP.
