Police are searching for five men linked to two early morning home invasions, first occurring in Oakville, followed by another in Burlington.
On April 22, around 3:45 a. m., the group targeted a house in the Roseland neighborhood of south Burlington. They broke a glass panel on the front door, reached inside to unlock it, and quickly entered.
“The suspects were confronted by the residents and made demands for valuables,” according to Halton Regional Police. “A physical altercation ensued, during which one of the residents was struck in the head with an unknown object. The injury required medical attention. The altercation caused the suspects to flee the scene. No items were stolen.”
Investigators have determined that this same group was responsible for an attempted break-in earlier that morning in Oakville.
At about 3 a. m., they attempted to smash through the door of a home using a hammer. The homeowner called 911, prompting the suspects to escape before police arrived.
In both incidents, witnesses reported seeing suspects driving a dark-colored sedan. All five individuals wore hoodies and balaclavas.
Investigators are asking the public for any video footage (dashcam or surveillance) from near Royal Windsor Drive and Ford Drive between 2:45 a. m. and 3:10 a. m., as well as from New Street (between Walkers Line and Guelph Line) and Rossmore Boulevard between 3:30 a. m. and 4:10 a. m.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2316.
