Dolores D. Lombardo, age 97, of Burr Ridge, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20th, 2025, in Romeoville, IL. She was born on August 27, 1928, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to the late Michael and Cecilia Ostrowski.
Dolores was a loving mother to Robert M. (Karen L.) Lombardo of Minooka, IL, and Maria A. (John Kucera) Lombardo of Palm Springs, CA; a devoted grandmother to Robert E. Lombardo of Minooka, IL, and Samantha R. (Taylor) Shapiro of Shorewood, IL; great-grandmother to Juniper R. Shapiro; and a caring aunt to Michelle Ostrowski of Brampton, Ontario, Canada. She also had many nieces and nephews who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Primo Robert Lombardo; and her brother Jack (Jean) Ostrowski.
Dolores grew up in Windsor and discovered her love for ballet as a child. Her passion for dance led her to teach ballet to many eager students over the years.
She met her husband Primo when she happened to walk past his house one day. That chance meeting blossomed into a marriage that lasted for 74 wonderful years as they raised their family together.
A passionate traveler at heart, Dolores explored numerous countries with her family from the Arctic Circle all the way down to Australia’s southern coast. She also enjoyed music-especially ballet and opera-and loved collecting fine jewelry and antiques.
A faithful Catholic throughout her life, Dolores lived according to the values she held dear and shared these beliefs with family and friends.
For the last eight months of her life, Dolores resided at Story Point in Romeoville where she was well-loved by both residents and staff alike. She received excellent care from dedicated caregivers who made sure she felt cherished during this time-thank you Joanie, Judy, Maureen, Cathy, Doris, and Nyle for your kindness-as well as Vitas Hospice for their compassionate support for both Dolores and her family.
The family will hold a private Memorial Mass of Christian Burial as per Dolores’s wishes after cremation has taken place. A later interment is planned at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Ontario where she will rest alongside her husband.
