Halton police have taken a man and two teenagers into custody after an auto theft investigation in Oakville.

On Sunday around 2:30 a. m., officers were patrolling in Oakville when they spotted a blue Ford F-150 and a white Lincoln Aviator parked in a commercial driveway near Third Line and Wyecroft Road.

As the officers approached the vehicles, they saw three suspects getting into the Lincoln Aviator, which then sped onto the QEW.

Around 2:45 a. m., detectives located the Lincoln Aviator at the Oakville Ford Assembly Plant where the suspects were trying to steal a black Ford Expedition. The three suspects were swiftly arrested.

Ahmed Shkais, 30, with no fixed address, has been charged with:

Possess Property Obtained by Crime – over $5000 (two counts); Theft of Motor Vehicle; Flight from Peace Officer; Operation While Prohibited; Possess Break In Instruments; Possess Automobile Master Key; Fail to Comply Being on a Release Order; and Fail to Comply Being on a Probation Order.

A 16-year-old boy from Mississauga faces charges for:

Possess Property Obtained by Crime – over $5000 (two counts); Theft of Motor Vehicle; Possess Break In Instruments; Possess Automobile Master Key; and Fail to Comply Being on a Release Order.

A 17-year-old boy also from Mississauga has been charged with:

Possess Property Obtained by Crime – over $5000 (two counts); Theft of Motor Vehicle; Possess Break In Instruments; and Possess Automobile Master Key.

The police noted that both Shkais and the 16-year-old were out on forms of release for similar offenses when they were arrested. All three are being held in custody awaiting their respective bail hearings in Milton.

An investigation revealed that the Lincoln Aviator was reported stolen from Peel Region, while the Ford F-150 had been taken from the Burlington Hampton Inn and Suites shortly before it was spotted by patrol officers.

The teenage suspects cannot be identified due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

If anyone has information regarding this investigation, they’re asked to contact the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2216.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online here.
