South Bruce OPP report that a 49-year-old man lost his life in a head-on crash on Highway 21, located south of Port Elgin. Emergency crews arrived at the scene involving a pickup truck and an SUV shortly after 5:20 PM on Tuesday, just north of Concession 2 in Saugeen Shores. According to an update from the OPP, “The driver of the SUV was transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.” The pickup truck driver was treated at the hospital and released with minor injuries. Highway 21 was closed between Bruce Road 40 and Concession 2 for several hours while investigators looked into the collision, but it has now reopened. The South Bruce OPP stated that their investigation is still ongoing. They’re asking residents and businesses near the accident site who may have dash cam or security footage to reach out at 1-888-310-1122.
