One man has been arrested in connection with a “targeted shooting” that took place in Oakville earlier this year, and authorities believe they may find leads regarding other suspects in Mississauga.
Halton Regional Police announced on Monday that they’ve made an arrest and filed multiple charges following the violent incident that occurred early Sunday morning, March 29, which sent a male victim to the hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.
The shooting happened around 5:30 a. m. at Lakeshore Road and Fourth Line in the west end of Oakville, according to police.
Jayon Burgher, 18, from Barrie, is facing charges for:
Careless use of a firearm.
Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
Use of a firearm while committing an offence.
Discharge of a firearm with intent.
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Mischief to property over $5,000. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton, as per police reports. Investigators are still on the lookout for additional suspects and are urging anyone with information to reach out to the Major Crime Bureau at 905-825-4777 or their tip line at 905-825-4776. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Detectives previously indicated they believe the shooting was intentional. Authorities are still seeking witnesses who might have seen the incident or have dashcam footage from the vicinity.
