Peel Regional Police say they are still looking for a suspect after a stabbing in a parking lot in Mississauga, Ontario, that resulted in one man’s death.

In a news release on Saturday, Peel police reported that officers arrived at the scene following reports of a stabbing behind a commercial building close to Hurontario Street and Agnes Street just after noon on Tuesday.

The victim was stabbed during an altercation with the suspect, according to Peel police.

Peel police acting Staff Sgt. Taylor Halfyard previously told reporters that the victim managed to stumble toward the main road before collapsing. Nearby residents provided first aid until police, fire crews, and paramedics arrived.

Investigators have identified the victim as 32-year-old Chay Wilson from Mississauga. Halfyard mentioned that he was found in critical condition and pronounced dead at the scene.

“This is obviously concerning. What I can say is police officers responded quickly,” Halfyard said. “In my opinion, we have a very good grasp on the investigation so far.”

At that time, he noted that police had obtained CCTV footage of the suspect.

The suspect, a 28-year-old man without a permanent address, is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder.

Peel police described him as having a medium build, short black hair, and a black goatee. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, a black zippered jacket, fluorescent green pants, yellow Timberland-style boots, and a black watch on his right wrist.

He frequently visits the area around Hurontario Street and Dundas Street according to Peel police.

Investigators are urging him to get legal advice and turn himself in.

“The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous,” Peel police stated in their release. “If seen, the public is advised not to approach and dial 9-1-1.”

A command post was set up earlier on Agnes Street west of its intersection with Hurontario Street. As an extra precaution, nearby schools were put into hold-and-secure mode for about an hour while police conducted their investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
