The Grey Bruce Health Unit is set to establish a mobile COVID-19 testing clinic in Port Elgin next week after two school classes were sent home because of virus cases.

On Saturday, the Grey Bruce Health Unit announced that students at Saugeen District Senior School and Port Elgin Saugeen Central School had been dismissed due to one confirmed case at each location. A second confirmed case would indicate an outbreak.
Grey-Bruce Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra shared on Sunday that plans for a community clinic are being made for Tuesday.
“The sooner we get the full picture of the situation, the sooner we can send people back, or let parents go back to work and such,” Arra said.
The confirmed cases involve two individuals connected within the community who attend different schools, according to Arra.
A risk assessment will be conducted for everyone in the affected classes.
“We will see who needs to be tested, who needs to be isolating and who can go back to school with some monitoring,” Arra stated.
On Sunday, the health unit reported three new COVID-19 cases in Grey-Bruce. Two were located in Southgate and one was in Saugeen Shores.
