The organization representing the mayors of Ontario’s 29 largest cities is set to hold their annual AGM and Conference at the Pickering Casino Arena on Thursday, with a media scrum scheduled for 12:30 p. m.

Led by Pickering Mayor Kevin Ashe, the Ontario Big City Mayors will come together to talk about municipal priorities like housing and infrastructure, as well as issues surrounding homelessness, mental health, and addiction. They will be joined by various special guests and experts.

Other mayors present at the media briefing will include Marianne Meed Ward from Burlington, who chairs the Ontario Big City Mayors; Elizabeth Roy from Whitby; Alex Nuttall from Barrie; Cam Guthrie from Guelph; along with several others.

The Ontario Big City Mayors is a non-partisan group that consists of mayors from single-tier and lower-tier cities with populations over 100,000. Together, they represent nearly 70 percent of Ontario’s population and almost 30 percent of Canada’s total population.

This group advocates for important issues and policies affecting Ontario’s biggest cities in hopes of influencing decisions made by the provincial government.
