Ontario Premier Doug Ford says the resident who shot and injured a suspect ‘should have shot him a couple more times’

Ontario Premier Doug Ford commented that a York Region resident who shot and hurt an alleged home invader “should have shot him a couple more times.”

According to York Regional Police, the resident used a gun that was legally owned and stored properly, and they are not facing any charges based on the evidence collected at the scene.

The 24-year-old man who got shot is now dealing with several charges, including robbery with a firearm.

During a press conference today, Ford was asked about this case. He had previously criticized charges – which were later dropped – against another individual in Lindsay, Ont., who was accused of assaulting an alleged home intruder last year.

The premier’s message to the resident was simple: “Congratulations. I’m glad you shot the guy.”

NDP Leader Marit Stiles called it “irresponsible nonsense” for the premier of the province to suggest people should shoot each other.
