Ontario provincial police have discovered human remains that are thought to be linked to a murder investigation ongoing in Simcoe, Ont.
The remains were located in a forested area off Highway 6 in Haldimand County at around 6 p. m. on Thursday, and an autopsy is set for Friday to determine the identity and cause of death.
If anyone was present in the area on Oct. 5 between 10:30 p. m. and midnight, police would like you to reach out if you saw anything suspicious.
Last week, authorities apprehended a 45-year-old man on a second-degree murder charge after a woman’s body was discovered in a Simcoe residence on Oct. 5.
The OPP later confirmed that the suspect is the son of the deceased woman.
Police are also looking for a missing 49-year-old man related to this investigation, who was last seen on Oct. 4.
