A young man riding a motorcycle has died following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 407 overnight, leading to the closure of the eastbound lanes near Trafalgar Road in Oakville for several hours.
The incident occurred just before 1 a. m. on Friday, when officers from the Highway 407 OPP arrived after receiving reports of a motorcycle accident on the eastbound lanes heading towards the Highway 403 ramp. The rider, a 25-year-old from North York, was declared dead at the scene.
According to OPP, speed is suspected to have played a role in this tragic collision.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 407 were quickly shut down at the Highway 403 interchange and remained closed throughout the night.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Authorities are urging anyone who saw what happened – or who may have dashcam footage from that area around the time of the incident – to reach out to the Highway 407 OPP detachment.
