The man who was shot and killed in Renfrew over the Victoria Day long weekend had a troubled few months leading up to his death, according to court records.
Jonathan Logan, 41, was fatally shot in a “targeted” incident on May 19, as reported by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
Prior to this, documents from Renfrew court indicate that Logan was arrested three times during April and May.
On April 9, he faced charges for stealing a motor vehicle after allegedly taking a black 2013 Chevrolet Cruze.
He also faced one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and another for property obtained by crime under $5,000. Logan was arrested on that day but released on bail shortly after.
Less than two weeks later, Logan was arrested again and charged with two counts of unlawfully possessing drugs: one involving fentanyl and the other concerning cocaine. He was also charged for not complying with a release order.
Finally, just two days before his death, Logan faced charges for possessing a prohibited device or ammunition due to allegedly having pepper spray without a license.
Additionally, he was charged with three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and two counts for failing to comply with a release order. He also faced charges for unlawfully possessing drugs due to allegedly carrying methamphetamine. He was arrested once more but released on bail again.
No charges against Logan had been proven in court at the time of his death.

According to an earlier press release from OPP, police were called to a residence on Vimy Boulevard shortly before 10:30 p. m.
Upon arrival, they found that Logan had been shot. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived, OPP stated.
A neighbor mentioned to CBC that the house police were called to had been referred to as a “problem house.” Another neighbor described it as a “frequent drug area.”
The family of Logan could not be reached for comment.
