Wasaga Beach, known as the go-to spot for a beach day near Toronto, is about to see some exciting changes that will revamp this beloved Ontario location.

As home to the longest freshwater beach in the world and one of the province’s top summer attractions, Wasaga Beach recently revealed that Sunray Group will construct a Premium Marriott Hotel in the town’s beachfront commercial area.

Mayor Brian Smith expressed that this significant investment from Sunray Group will enhance local family-owned inns, cottages, and restaurants while bringing jobs, increased tourism value, and longer stays to the town situated at the southern tip of Ontario’s Georgian Bay.

“Wasaga Beach is excited to partner with Sunray Group, as we continue to redevelop our beachfront commercial area and unlock our community’s full potential to become a thriving, year-round destination.”

Sunray Group, an award-winning hotel developer, plans to invest over $45 million into building this luxury hotel along with other amenities close to the iconic beach area. Construction is set to kick off in early 2026. Additionally, they’ll invest $1.5 million in designing and constructing a festival square adjacent to the hotel for outdoor entertainment and special events.

Sunray Group will build a Premium Marriott Hotel in Wasaga Beach’s beachfront commercial area. The town is recognized as Toronto’s favorite beach getaway spot and boasts the world’s longest freshwater beach.

Following the announcement about Sunray’s project, Wasaga Beach started work on Phase 1 of a new mixed-use village nearby. This high-quality development will feature various residential and commercial spaces filled with new shops and cafés that will complement the luxury hotel project.

Wasaga Beach has been aiming to attract a premium-brand hotel for decades and sees over two million visitors each year.
