A school in Vaughan was evacuated on Friday morning after York Regional Police (YRP) received a call about a threat, leading to an emergency response and a precautionary search of the premises.

Officers were initially dispatched around 8:07 a. m. to the vicinity of Bathurst Street and Ner Israel Drive, where police advised the public to steer clear of the area due to an ongoing investigation. Numerous police vehicles and officers were observed as they worked to assess the situation.

In an update just before 9 a. m., police confirmed they were addressing a threats call and were trying to verify its credibility. A spokesperson mentioned that community members should expect continued police activity as officers conducted their investigation.

The YRP later stated that the threat was aimed at a school, prompting the evacuation for safety reasons. Authorities indicated they could not disclose any details that might reveal who the threat was targeting.

The school will stay closed for the remainder of the day while investigators continue their work.

The area has since been reopened, but officers are still present as part of the ongoing inquiry.
