Hamilton police are looking into a two-vehicle accident that resulted in the death of one man and left several others – including an 18-month-old child – with serious injuries after a pickup truck ran a stop sign at a rural intersection Tuesday night.
The crash took place around 8:11 p. m. at Woodburn Road and Binbrook Road, where authorities report that a 2020 Dodge Ram traveling southbound ignored the stop sign and collided with a 2018 Ford Edge going east.
The impact was so strong that it pushed both vehicles off the road and into a nearby field.
There were four people inside the Ford Edge. An adult male passenger sitting in the front seat from London, Ont., was rushed to the hospital but sadly pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The adult female driver and another adult female passenger suffered serious, life-changing injuries, according to police.
An 18-month-old child in the car was taken to the hospital with critical injuries but is now reported to be stable.
The male driver of the Dodge Ram was also taken to the hospital and is said to be in stable condition.
Police have indicated that charges are likely but haven’t shared any details as their investigation continues.
