A man has died following a house fire in Port Elgin.
Saugeen Shores police and firefighters responded to the blaze at around 11:30 a. m. on Thursday. Fire crews managed to put out the fire quickly and found a man inside who was not breathing.
The man was declared dead at the scene, according to police. His identity and age have not been disclosed.
Local authorities, along with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal and the Chief Coroner’s office of Ontario, are investigating what caused the fire and the man’s death.
Investigators are expected to return to the site on Friday.
Police have not revealed which street in Port Elgin experienced the fire.
