With great sadness, the family shares the news of Gurnam Singh Pooni’s passing. He was a caring father, grandfather, great grandfather, and teacher who left us peacefully on April 19, 2026.

Gurnam was preceded in death by his wife Parkash Kaur Pooni. He is survived by his children Darshan Kaur Thandi (late Satpal Singh Thandi), Surinder Kaur Sandhu (Randhir Singh Sandhu), late Surjit Singh Pooni (Harinder Kaur Pooni), and Kulvinder Kaur Sarowa (Manjinder Singh Sarowa). He will be remembered fondly by his nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

In 1966, Gurnam left India for Chatham, England before moving to Victoria, Canada in 1969. His family joined him there in 1970 and they later moved to Vancouver in 1974. While living in Vancouver, he proudly became a member of the Khalsa Diwan Society. In retirement, he dedicated his time to serving at the Ross Street Gurdwara.

The funeral service will take place on Friday May 1 at 1 p. m. at Riverside Funeral Home located at 7410 Hopcott Road, Delta, BC. Langar will follow at Khalsa Diwan Society on Ross Street in Vancouver.
