One person has been killed in a crash that closed Highway 7 southwest of Ottawa Wednesday morning, according to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

In a series of posts on X, OPP first reported around 10:40 a. m. that the highway was closed due to an accident between Drummond Concession 7 and Westshore Road.

About half an hour later, OPP announced that an unnamed individual had died. There were no details provided about what caused the crash or if there were any other injuries.

The highway “will remain closed for a prolonged period,” OPP stated. They posted around 9:20 p. m. that it had reopened.

The incident occurred in Drummond/North Elmsley, roughly 15 kilometres from Perth and about 20 kilometres from Carleton Place.
