The family of a woman from Kingston, Ont., who lost her life on Highway 401 in Whitby during a multi-vehicle crash involving an alleged impaired and speeding driver is speaking out.

In an emotional interview with , Nataly Tucci’s sister expresses her desire for her sister’s name to be known and her story shared.

“She had a name and she has a face and a beautiful face. People should know who she is and people should know the life that was lost,” said Tucci’s sister Oricia Maletic, through tears.

At 7:10 p. m. on Sunday, the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a three-vehicle collision on the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Thickson Road.

The OPP reported that the rear-end collision led to two vehicles catching fire. Sadly, Tucci was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other individuals were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities have stated that Jaxon Christie, a 20-year-old from Lincoln, who was driving one of the vehicles involved, has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving causing death, impaired driving causing death, and operating a vehicle with more than 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.

Maletic shared that her sister worked as a graphic designer and served as assistant art director at the Director’s Guild of Canada. She was commuting to Toronto for work on Monday morning. Tucci had started working in Toronto back in July but returned home to Kingston on weekends to visit her fiancé.

“They finally got engaged and now his world is completely shattered,” Maletic said.

Although Maletic mentioned that she had drifted apart from her sister over time, they still stayed connected since Tucci called their 83-year-old mother almost every day.

“She was so talented and she was a kind soul. She touched so many lives and she was a good person trying to make a living,” said Maletic.

“My mom, in her grief, you replay things and how could this have been avoided? My mom says, ‘she always texts me when she gets there’ and she was debating going Sunday night or Monday morning or maybe earlier Sunday. It was just all those decisions-those little things-that you think maybe if that would have changed, she would still be here,” said Maletic.

Tucci’s sister has reviewed dash camera footage sent by another driver who captured events just moments before the crash while traveling westbound on Highway 401 near Thickson Road.

“You can clearly see the white car speeding, driving erratically and then all the cars come to a stop-and then you just see the cars engulfed in flames,” said Maletic while fighting back tears. She explained that due to severe burns, her sister will need identification through dental records.

No one should ever drive under the influence.

“You will ruin your life and you will ruin the life of other people that have absolutely nothing to do with your poor choices,” said Maletic. “Grab a cab. Grab an Uber. If you don’t have any money for that then wait it out. Don’t do this. Just don’t be stupid.”

A bail hearing for Christie is scheduled for Monday in Oshawa where he remains in custody.
