Steve Kepran, born John Stephens, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the age of 81.
He was a devoted husband to Ardra (nee Merwin) for more than 56 years and a caring father to Jeff (Jen), Sarah Blair (Ryan), Erin, and Stephanie Ferranti (Eric).
As a proud grandfather, he adored Zoe and Max Kepran, Kennedy, Jackson, and Sam Blair, along with Scarlett Ferranti. Steve loved attending every soccer match, hockey game, swim meet, and baseball tournament his grandkids participated in.
Surviving him are his loving sister Virginia Cross (Skip) and sister-in-law Doris Kepran. He will be missed by many extended family members.
He shared a lifelong bond with his uncle George, Aunt Pat (1998), and their son George Jr. and family.
Steve was predeceased by his parents Steve and Mary Jane as well as his best friend and brother Ralph.
A dedicated employee of Ford Motor Co. Dearborn for 30 years, Steve had a passion for sailing any boat but especially enjoyed his favorite Moonshadow. He spent many happy years at La Salle Mariners Yacht Club. When sailing became too difficult for him, he turned to camping and traveled across the U. S. in his Chinook motorhome. Known for being handy with building and fixing things, he would often spend hours tinkering until he found a solution. After being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in 2011, Steve received a life-saving double lung transplant that granted him an additional 15 years filled with precious moments with family. We are incredibly grateful to the donor family for this time.
A special thank you goes out to Dr. Steven Berecz for his compassionate care over the years as well as to Dr. Jarvis and the amazing nursing staff at Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital’s palliative care unit.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
