On January 3, 2026, Cindy passed away with her loving daughters by her side after a brief fight with cancer. She was a devoted wife to Sam (who predeceased her) for 44 years. A dedicated mother to Michelle (Paul Durocher) and Teresa (Michael Di Risio), she took great joy in being a grandmother to Luna Carlesimo-Di Risio. She is survived by her beloved siblings Jack, Scott, Cathy, Mark (Sharon), and Kurt (Julie), and was predeceased by Brett Sailler. She will be missed by her in-laws Luisa (the late Pio) Di Mario, Marcella (the late Pietro) Nardone, and the late Bruno Carlesimo (Ivana Talerico), as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Cindy graduated from Dondero HS in Royal Oak, MI, then worked as a photographer and converted microfilm before briefly relocating to Aspen, CO. After being persuaded to come back to Michigan by her future husband Sam, Cindy later became a long-time resident of Windsor. She spent nearly 30 years at Toys R Us starting as a cashier and eventually becoming the store Director before retiring. People loved her for her big personality and sense of humor. Her greatest happiness came from being a mother and later a grandmother. She built strong bonds with her daughters that lasted a lifetime. After racing cars when she was younger, she kept her love for muscle cars alive and was known for having a lead foot. Gardening brought her joy too; she had an eye for design and loved spending time with family. Family and friends can visit at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – Central Chapel (1700 Tecumseh Rd. E 519-253-7234) on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 11am until the funeral service at 1pm. Interment will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Donations in Cindy’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
