She journeyed from England across the chilly North Atlantic to Canada, where her story began. From a young age, Joanne had a personality as vast as her new homeland. Her smile and laughter were contagious; being around her meant you couldn’t help but feel joyful. Growing up in the quiet town of Winona, she enjoyed outdoor activities like games, horses, skating, and swimming pools. An accomplished figure skater and rider, she also excelled academically and earned a degree in Computer Science from Sheridan, which led to a successful career managing computer-based inventory and purchasing systems.

Joanne adored animals and had many cats and dogs throughout her life. She thrived outdoors; whether it was hiking, camping, fishing, or occasionally tipping out of canoes, she loved every moment. Music, photography, and especially crafting were also great loves of hers.

To know Joanne was to experience kindness and enthusiasm paired with a carefree approach to life. She had friends spanning two continents-old childhood friends alongside new acquaintances. It didn’t take long for anyone who met Joanne to become a close friend.

She will always hold a special place in the hearts of her family and friends-especially her brother-in-law Paul and sister-in-law Sandra; her best friend Meredith along with her husband John; as well as her brother Gary and sister-in-law Sharon. Joanne was predeceased by her beloved husband Carman, along with her mother Shirley and father Tony.

Joanne has left us now, leaving an ache in our hearts; yet we find comfort in reflecting on the life she lived so fully and the warm place she will forever have within us.

A celebration of Joanne’s life is planned for later on.

We are truly fortunate to have experienced something that makes saying goodbye so incredibly tough.
