Henry was a gentle and kind person, the youngest of three boys. He was born on Feb 3, 1947 in Port Arthur (now Thunder Bay), Ontario. He passed away on August 29, 2026 at the Alexander Muskoka Residence in Gravenhurst. His parents, Dorothy and Herman Schmidt, had both passed away before him. Henry spent his childhood in Port Arthur. He went to Port Arthur Collegiate Institute and then Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. Most of his career was spent with Canadian National Railways where he started as a brakeman and worked his way up to train engineer, operating GO trains around Toronto until retiring in 2007 after nearly three decades. Henry enjoyed playing bridge and was an award-winning member of the Toronto Bridge Club for many years. He will be greatly missed by his older brothers, Paul from Hanover and James from Bracebridge, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Henry is buried at Riverside Cemetery in Thunder Bay next to his parents.
