An ex-principal from a school in the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board has been sentenced due to an assault incident involving a child.

As noted by the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), this case involved Nienke Hoedeman and goes back to November 13, 2024, when Hoedeman was serving as an in-school principal, according to the province’s Sunshine List.

The notation states that on July 2 of this year, Hoedeman was found guilty of assault by the Ontario Court of Justice. She received a conditional discharge and was placed on probation for 18 months along with an ancillary order. Regarding the OCT’s conditions, Hoedeman is barred from having any volunteer or paid positions that involve trust or authority over individuals under 18.
