A fire broke out at a business in Oakville, creating a distraction for drivers heading westbound on the QEW near Trafalgar Road early Wednesday morning.

The Oakville Fire Department reported that the incident took place at Access Storage located at 1195 North Service Rd.

Halton police confirmed that they closed a section of North Service Road East from Invicta to Joshua Creek drives to respond around 5:15 a. m.

When crews arrived, they saw smoke and flames visible from the scene.

The fire had spread to several storage units while firefighters worked to establish cut-offs and stop it from affecting more units.

Six fire trucks and one command officer were dispatched to handle the situation.

No injuries were reported among firefighters or members of the public.

A town salt truck was sent to help prevent icy conditions, and some barriers were set up near neighboring buildings to minimize potential water damage.

An investigation into the affected units is currently ongoing.
