The intense heat and heavy rain we’ve had recently didn’t hold back the July Oakville Summer Series earlier this month.
This yearly summer 5K and kids’ one mile fun run aimed to encourage running in the area saw many locals racing to the finish for a shiny new medal bright and early on July 11th.
The top five finishers in the 5K were awarded medals, with competition split by age groups. Every participant in the fun run received a medal. All runners who signed up ahead of time were promised a shirt.
This year’s overall winners for the 5K were Jacob Crooks for the men and former Hatton Hornet now Shelton State runner Hannah Berryman for the women.
Cooper Reeves took first place in the boy’s 10U One Mile Fun Run, while Everleigh Millette won it for the girls.
Judy Ledbetter triumphed in the Senior Women’s Grand Master Race (60+), with Brian Ingle winning the men’s race.
