An 89-year-old man lost his life after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a road in Oakville Saturday night.

In a news release on Sunday, Halton Regional Police mentioned that a woman from Oakville, aged 44, was driving her car north on Trafalgar Road near the Queen Elizabeth Way at around 8 p. m. when she collided with the man.

Police indicated that the man was walking as a pedestrian near the intersection of Trafalgar Road and Marlborough Court. He was using his walker while trying to cross before being struck.

The intersection remained closed for an investigation into the accident but has now reopened.
