The Toronto Blue Jays had the most Gold Glove nominees in the American League with five, but unfortunately, they ended up with no winners when the results were announced on Sunday night.
It’s a bit ironic that the Blue Jays had five nominees while also leading the league in errors with 99. Still, each of those players brought strong credentials to the table, yet none took home an award.
Jose Soriano was nominated for pitcher, but Tanner Bibee from the Cleveland Guardians won instead.
Brandon Valenzuela received a nod for catcher, but Dillon Dingler of the Detroit Tigers claimed the award. This marks Dingler’s second consecutive win.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who has won this award before, was nominated again at first base, but Christian Walker of the Houston Astros walked away with it.
Andres Gimenez, another former winner, lost out at shortstop to Taylor Walls of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Nathan Lukes was nominated for right field as well but saw Wilyer Abreu of the Boston Red Sox take home that honor; Abreu is a multiple-time winner.

Monday( 5 p. m. ET ) is when teams need to finalize their 40-man roster compliance. The Toronto squad currently has just 38 players on their list , allowing them room to add rather than subtract players. pp >Several teams are expected to downsize their rosters , meaning that Toronto could potentially benefit from these changes. pp >Additionally , Monday also marks the deadline for extending a qualifying offer to Shane Bieber if they choose to do so. This one-year deal would be around $23 million. pp >
