Environment Canada has put out a yellow advisory for blowing snow across the Waterloo region and Guelph, along with an orange warning for snow squalls in Stratford and Mount Forest.

The yellow advisory indicates that visibility will be poor, especially in open areas, with winds reaching up to 70 kilometres per hour. These strong winds combined with lake effect snow from Lake Huron could lead to snow squalls that may bring as much as 10 centimetres of snow.

This advisory remains in effect Tuesday morning, but conditions are expected to get better later in the day.

Environment Canada cautions that travel may be dangerous due to nearly zero visibility and advises people to delay their trips if possible.

For those traveling in Stratford and Mount Forest, Environment Canada states that conditions are extremely hazardous and will last until this evening.

Northwesterly winds are gusting up to 80 kilometres per hour, causing visibility to drop close to zero at times. Local snowfall totals could reach between 20 and 30 centimetres.
