William Ray Boreham, aged 86, of Greensboro, Georgia, died peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.
Born on April 1, 1939, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Ray was the son of the late William Boreham and Mona Bennett Boreham. He was a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was filled with hard work and a strong love for his family.
He shared nearly 70 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Micheline Irene Gagnon. Together they created a life based on commitment and perseverance while fostering deep family connections. He was a proud father to his daughters Carole Boreham Church (wife of the late John Church) and Kimberly Boreham Van Den Elzen (wife of Pete Van Den Elzen), as well as a loving grandfather to Michelle Church, Jonathan (Lena) Church, Will (Clarissa) Van Den Elzen and Natalie Van Den Elzen. His great-grandchildren Casey Church and Allie Church held a special place in his heart.
Ray lived in Canada until 1992 when he and Micheline moved to Georgia. About 24 years ago they built a lake house on Lake Oconee which became their full-time home nine years ago. Ray enjoyed the lake lifestyle and the tranquility it brought to their lives.
In his professional life, Ray was proud to be the owner and president of Synmar and Castech-a company that specialized in various solid surface materials including marble and quartz products. Before this role he owned Sunbelt-a business brokerage firm based in Atlanta. Earlier in his career Ray founded Fluoro Seal- a valve manufacturing company that he later sold to Grinnell Corporation. Fluoro Seal went on to gain recognition as an industry leader particularly known for its sleeved plug valves appearing regularly on “best of” lists across sectors like chemical manufacturing pharmaceuticals and industrial markets. Throughout his career Ray earned respect as a hardworking businessman who took pride in his work valued integrity craftsmanship and passed those values down to his children.
Outside of work Ray had a lifelong passion for fishing-a love he first discovered alongside his father and brother Gary Boreham during childhood in Canada. Over the years he enjoyed countless fishing trips-sometimes with Gary sometimes solo-venturing into Northern Canada’s lakes and rivers. His home showcased these adventures with walls decorated by “trophies” from each trip; every fish mount serving as both a conversation starter and reminder of thrilling experiences patience required-and stories-some tall some true-that made every outing special.
Above all else Ray prioritized family above everything else working tirelessly to provide for protect those he loved putting their needs before his own. His steady presence strong work ethic quiet generosity will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
