It is with sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Mr. William Robert (Bob) Davey at the age of 82. Bob left us surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Born on May 23, 1943, Bob went to Balsam Street School and Hillcrest High School before starting a long career as a heavy equipment mechanic. He met his dear wife, Margaret (Bennett), while they both worked at Capital Equipment. They tied the knot on March 27, 1976, embarking on a wonderful journey together.

Bob and Marg had a strong love for their camp at Starnes Lake, which they built from scratch. For almost five decades, the camp has been filled with countless special moments-fishing trips, card games (especially cribbage), and quality time with family and friends.

Bob was a man of few words but had a big heart; he welcomed everyone with open arms and had a gentle soul. He was kind-hearted, witty, patient, and always ready to lend a hand-especially when it came to fixing cars! After Marg passed away in 2023, Bob found comfort in spending weekends at camp with his grandkids, dogs, campfires and golf cart rides. He will be greatly missed.

Bob leaves behind his sons Mike (Jessica), Scott (Taralee), and George; as well as his grandchildren Gabriel, Evelyn, Lachlan, Mallory, Abigail, Andrew, Nikole, and Hannah. Many nieces and nephews will also fondly remember him along with his close friends-and he’ll be missed dearly by his granddogs-particularly Tegan who was his special companion at camp.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret; brothers Alan and Gerry; parents Bernard and Gladys; as well as parents-in-law Irwin and Helen Bennett.

The Davey family wants to extend their heartfelt thanks to Mary Jane and Enn Kurm for their unwavering care and support for Bob over many years both at home and during his hospital stay. A big thank you also goes out to Alison Carroll for her visits that brought joy to Bob’s days. We are truly grateful for Bob’s neighbors-both near home and at camp-for looking out for him too. Special thanks are given to the compassionate nurses and staff who cared for him in his last weeks-with particular appreciation for Nurse Evan as well as Drs. Haddad and Mc Callum.

Cremation has taken place; details about celebrating Bob’s life will be shared later.
