One man has died and another is in critical condition following a head-on crash in Pickering on Friday night.
Durham Police were called to the scene of the accident on Brock Road, just north of Taunton Road, on February 27 at around 8 a. m. According to police reports, a Toyota sedan was heading south on Brock Road when it lost control and veered into the northbound lanes, colliding with a GMC pick-up truck. The impact resulted in severe damage to both vehicles.
An 18-year-old passenger from the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. A 21-year-old passenger was thrown from the vehicle and transported to a trauma center in Toronto, where he is now in life-threatening condition. Additionally, a 58-year-old male passenger and the 42-year-old female driver were taken to a local hospital and are currently stable.
The driver of the GMC pick-up, a 56-year-old man, was evaluated at the scene but did not require any further medical assistance.
Officers from the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit arrived at the location, and Brock Road was closed for several hours while they collected evidence. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
