Woman Found Dead in Burlington Apartment

Halton police are looking into the death of a woman in her 40s in Burlington and report that they have a suspect in custody.

Authorities in Halton Region are treating this as a homicide after responding to a residence in Burlington Thursday morning for a wellness check.

On Thursday, around 6:30 a. m., Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) arrived at a high-rise apartment building located at 3020 Glencrest Rd., north of New Street and east of Guelph Line, to check on the welfare of a female resident.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman deceased inside an apartment. They reported that no one else was found in the unit.

Police later identified a male suspect in his 40s who had fled the residence before their arrival. The investigation revealed he traveled to the Niagara Falls area.

Niagara Regional Police Service was notified, and they located and arrested the suspect around 7:45 a. m. Charges are expected.

Investigators indicated that the suspect and victim were “known to each other,” stating they do not seek any additional suspects.

Police previously stated via social media that there is no threat to public safety and advised residents to expect ongoing police activity nearby.
