The project involves upgrading secondary clarifiers, fixing anaerobic digesters, and swapping out thickened waste activated sludge pumps. These improvements aim to boost plant efficiency, lower maintenance issues, and ensure reliable service for the local community.

GHD will oversee the entire project from initial investigation through design, construction support, and final commissioning. This includes creating contract documents, managing tenders, administering contracts, inspecting the site, integrating SCADA systems, providing training, and delivering record documentation.

GHD will lead the project from early investigation through design, construction support and commissioning

GHD has hands-on experience at this facility; they previously worked on refurbishing secondary clarifiers five to eight and replacing the high-voltage substation. This prior work has given them a solid understanding of the plant’s operations and the Region’s expectations for execution. It helps shape their plans for structural repairs as well as installing updated clarifier mechanisms to complete necessary upgrades.

“We value the trust the Region has placed in us to deliver this work,” said Don Holland, Project Director and GHD’s Canadian Water Leader. “By building on our familiarity with the plant, we can take a measured approach to these upgrades and support the continuity of operations for the wider community.”

GHD will collaborate with Kusiar Project Services Inc., Eramosa (a CIMA+ company), NCE Value Engineers Inc., Tree Frog Environmental and T2 Utility Engineers (T2ue).

This project showcases GHD’s strategy for essential infrastructure upgrades that address current challenges while ensuring dependable service for years to come.
