We are heartbroken to share that Aletta Lois Thorburn (née Shea) passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the age of 92, with her family by her side in London, Ontario. Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William Thorburn (May 30, 2021), as well as her parents, Wilfred and Muriel Shea. She is survived by her brother, Douglas (Janet) Shea from Tennessee. Her love will continue through her children Candi (Peter) from London, David (Marie-Claire) from Orillia, and Stephanie from Lillooet, British Columbia. Proud Grandma to Jessi (Dylan), Madison, Tyson (Tessa) Russo of London, and Curtis and Jaxson Thorburn of Orillia. Adored Great Grandma Lois to Mc Kinley and Rory.
Her life-long friends in Orillia and many cousins will miss her dearly. Lois will also be remembered fondly by her bridge group at the Orillia Bridge Club who kept her engaged with cherished games of bridge along with dinners, trips, and countless joyful moments.
Cremation has occurred according to her wishes and there will be no formal service. If you wish to make a donation in her memory, please consider Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital or a charity of your choice.
