Durham Regional Police report that a woman was taken to the hospital after being slashed in the neck during a domestic incident in Whitby, Ont.

A 40-year-old man faces multiple charges related to the assault.

The police said this occurred on Feb. 16 at approximately 3:50 p. m. at a gas station located near Brock Street South and Consumers Drive.

A 34-year-old woman sustained serious injuries from the slash to her neck, according to police. She was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Investigators mentioned that the suspect fled from the scene in a vehicle with a small child. They were found shortly thereafter with help from Ontario Provincial Police.

The child was unharmed, according to police reports.

A man aged 40 from Mississauga has been charged with aggravated assault, weapons offences, and failing to comply with a release order.

“Domestic violence can take many forms, including physical, emotional, financial and psychological abuse. It knows no boundaries and can impact people of all ages, genders, races and socioeconomic backgrounds,” police said.
