A 35-year-old man from Whitby is currently being sought under an arrest warrant following allegations of sexual assaults involving both a child and an adult.
According to Durham Regional Police, the first incident reportedly took place in January when the suspect was visiting friends in Clarington, where he allegedly touched a nine-year-old inappropriately.
The second incident is said to have occurred in February. Police reported that the accused allegedly sexually assaulted an adult at a residence in Whitby. The victim claimed she woke up to find him assaulting her, and he subsequently took her to his vehicle where he is said to have assaulted her again.
Authorities have expressed concern that there could be more victims involved.
Jared Mercieca is wanted on charges of sexual interference with someone under 16 years old, two counts of sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm, choking, making threats to cause death, and dangerous operation of a vehicle.
He is described as a white male standing 5-foot-6 with a medium build, brown hair, and a full beard.
