Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two individuals, one of whom is from the Waterloo Region, following the seizure of thousands of illegal marijuana plants valued at millions.

According to a press release, police from the west region detachment were dispatched to a location on Base Line in the Municipality of Central Huron, near Goderich, on February 27. They were assisted by investigators from Huron-Perth, Wellington, K9 units and members of the Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team.

During the execution of a search warrant, officers discovered over 4,000 marijuana plants along with “large quantities” of cannabis in various production stages.

Authorities described this as a “highly organized and complex drug grow operation.”

Drugs worth over $2,150,000 were seized during the operation, as noted in the release.

Consequently, two individuals are facing charges under the Cannabis Act and are scheduled to appear in court on April 20 in Goderich.

Lin Bingron, 43, from Waterloo is charged with possession for distribution purposes and cultivating cannabis at a site that isn’t their residence.

Jin Long Zeng, 61, from Central Huron faces identical charges.

If anyone has information related to this investigation, they are encouraged to contact Huron OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or (519) 482-1677.
