Kitchener-Waterloo

This August long weekend brings some closures and service changes for Monday.

Government offices will be closed, but some shops will remain open

With the civic holiday coming up, you’ll notice different hours for various locations throughout the region, especially on Monday.

Curbside garbage, recycling, and organic collection won’t change since those collections happen Tuesday through Friday.

The waste sites in Cambridge and Waterloo will not accept residential drop-offs on Monday.

Grand River Transit will run on holiday hours this Monday.

In general:

Banks and government offices are closed. Some retail stores might also close their doors on Monday.

Select The Beer Store outlets will operate from 11 a. m. to 6 p. m.:

Cambridge (Holiday Inn Drive, Franklin Boulevard). Kitchener (Bleams Road and Highland Road W.). Guelph (Silvercreek Parkway). Stratford (Meier Boulevard).

Select LCBO outlets are open including:

Kitchener and Waterloo (Highland and Westmount, King S. and William, Ottawa and Homer Watson, Ottawa and River, Fairway and Manitou, Ira Needles and Highland, Laurelwood Plaza, King and Northfield, Homer Watson and Pioneer). Cambridge (Holiday Inn Drive, Hespeler and Dunbar, Franklin and Dundas). Guelph (Wellington St. W., Speedvale Avenue, Scottsdale Drive, Clair Road E., Paisley Road).

Region of Waterloo

All regional administrative offices are closed on Monday including: 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo, 150 Frederick St. in Kitchener, 150 Main St. in Cambridge. All Grand River Transit customer service centres are closed. Home child care offices are shut down. Region of Waterloo International Airport administration offices are closed but regular airport operations continue unaffected. All branches of Region of Waterloo libraries are not open. Sunnyside Wellness Centre is not available. Community Alzheimer day programs in Kitchener, Cambridge, and Waterloo won’t take place. Welcome Spaces at 99 Regina St. S. in Waterloo; 20 Weber St. E. in Kitchener; and 150 Main St. in Cambridge. Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum along with Schneider Haus National Historic Site from 11 a. m. to 4 p. m. Mc Dougall Cottage Historic Site opens from 12 p. m. to 5 p. m.

Cambridge

The city hall along with administrative buildings is shut down. All locations of the Cambridge Public Library won’t be available. The Cambridge Centre for the Arts is not operating. David Durward Centre as well as William E. Pautler Centerand Allan Reuter Centre are all closed. All arenas won’t be open. W. G. Johnson Centre/Ted Wake Centre alongside John Dolson Centre will have limited access from 11 a. m. to4 p. m., but no swim lessons will be held. George Hancock Pool opens at11:30 a. m. and closes at7 p. m. Ed Newland Pool operates from11:30 a. m. to8 p. m.

Kitchener

The city hall is off-limits. All community centres are unavailable. All branches of Kitchener Public Library won’t be operating. The Kitchener Memorial Auditorium is locked down. Outdoors pools like Harry Class, and Idlewood as well as Kiwanis, and Wilson remain open. In-door pools follow regular programming. Doon Valleyand Rockway golf courses welcome players. Activa Sportsplex including the walking track remains accessible.

Waterloo

The city hall is off-limits although public washrooms with exterior access operate from8 a. m. to10 p. m. All branches of the Waterloo Public Library aren’t open. Albert Mc Cormick Community Centre along with Bechtel Park Manulife Soccer & Sports Centre, and Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex Community Pavilion remain inaccessible. Moses Springer Community Centre building isn’t accessible but its pool runs regularly scheduled programs. RIM Park Manulife Sportsplex alongside Healthy Living Centre starts operations at4 p. m. for regularly scheduled programs. Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex & Swimplex continues its regular programming. Corrections and clarifications·Submit a news tip·Report error
