Police Search for 15-Year-Old in Double Teen Shooting

Authorities have named a 15-year-old suspect linked to the deaths of two teenagers in Stoney Creek.

An arrest warrant was issued for Rahziel Martin, who is from Hamilton, on Friday.

According to police, two male teens were shot on Wednesday at a location on Candlewood Drive. They were taken to the hospital but sadly later died from their injuries.

The victims have been identified as Abdulmalek Shibli, 18, and Afef Binafif, 16, both residents of Hamilton.

Martin faces charges including “two counts of second-degree murder” and “four counts of attempted murder using a firearm.” Authorities have received permission under the Youth Criminal Justice Act to temporarily share the boy’s name and image “for the purpose of locating and arresting him.”

Shooting linked to previous bear spray incident

Det. Sgt. Mike Ebert mentioned that first responders found the teens outside when they arrived.

“The victims’ families are devastated by the loss of their loved ones, and have asked for privacy at this time,” Ebert said.

Investigators think that this shooting may have been “retaliation for an earlier disturbance involving bear spray at a residence in Hamilton’s east end,” he explained.

Ebert noted that the bear spray incident occurred around midnight near Barton Street East and Centennial Parkway North. He did not elaborate on how the shooting victims were connected. He also stated that police believe at least six individuals gathered in the area on the morning of the shooting.
