With Canada’s first game in the world’s largest soccer tournament just around the corner, communities across the GTA are preparing for 2026 World Cup watch parties to rally behind Canada on home turf.
In Whitby, the town has teamed up with the Whitby FC soccer club to host watch parties on June 12 at Whitby Civic Park for Canada’s opening match against Bosnia Herzegovina at Toronto’s BMO Field, and again on June 18 at Whitby FC for the game against Qatar from Vancouver.
Ajax is inviting fans to support Canada by attending free outdoor watch parties for all three of co-host’s matches in the first round. Fans can kick things off on June 12 at Ajax Fairgrounds for the Bosnia game, followed by events at Pat Bayly Square on June 18 (Qatar) and June 24 (Switzerland).
All three events will feature food vendors, family activities, and entertainment.
The City of Pickering is collaborating with Pickering Football Club to host a series of FIFA World Cup Watch Parties. “Together, we’re creating an exciting viewing experience that brings the community together to cheer on the Canadian Men’s National Team.”

Final Match | Kickoff: 3 p. m. Residents are encouraged to wear red and white, bring their Canadian gear, and join in cheering for Canada. Free snacks, games, and prizes will be available. If Team Canada moves forward in the tournament, stay tuned for additional watch parties. Various pubs and other venues will be hosting watch parties in Oshawa as well. Locations like Bollocks and Oshawa Italian Centre along with North End Bowl are teaming up with corporate partners for Canada’s first match this Friday. NEBS is setting up its huge 181-inch TV alongside a brand-new 100-inch television plus two more large screens measuring 75 inches each and a smaller one at 65 inches to give patrons an immersive soccer experience. There’ll also be free Powerade (while supplies last) and giveaways during the match. OPG is organizing watch parties across several of its sites including Darlington Nuclear Information Centre in Courtice for a quarter-final game on July 4 and a World Cup Final gathering at Pickering Nuclear Information Centre on July 19.
