Local police are alerting the community about a high-risk individual who has been released after being previously arrested in October.

According to a press release, Kevin Koehler, 60, was found guilty of manslaughter in 2013; however, he has an “extensive criminal history,” which includes charges like criminal negligence causing death, assault with a weapon, assault, and assaulting police officers.

Koehler was freed from custody after completing his manslaughter sentence in October and was placed under a judicial supervision order on the same day.

A few days following his release, he faced arrest once more for violating his conditions.

On Feb. 13, police confirmed that he was released again.

He must adhere to the following rules:

Notify immediately of any change in address You shall make no attempt to contact directly or indirectly with any of your past victims, or family members of the victims or witnesses in the cases in which you were convicted You are to abide by a curfew, and you are to remain in your residence between the hours of 11:00 p. m. to 5:00 a. m. You are to abstain from purchase and/or consumption of any alcoholic beverage or controlled substances unless prescribed by an Ontario Physician

Authorities are releasing his name and photo as they believe he poses a “significant risk to public safety.” They state he is “a high risk to reoffending or breaching his terms.”

Police urge anyone who sees Koehler breaking any terms of his release to call 911 immediately.

Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www. waterloocrimestoppers. com.
