A third individual has been arrested regarding a double shooting that occurred in Vaughan, Ont., last month, according to York police.
Two men from Vaughan – Pasquale Casciato, 49, and Christian Belsito, 34 – were tragically shot outside a residence in the city on the evening of May 13, police mentioned in a previous press release.
A stolen blue SUV, which authorities believe was utilized by suspects before and after the shooting, was subsequently discovered burned and abandoned near Huntington Road and Kirby Road, police noted. Investigative efforts led to identifying three men thought to have been passengers in that same SUV.
This week, police reported they had apprehended a 27-year-old man from Toronto and a 55-year-old man from Windsor in connection with the incident but were still looking for a 48-year-old man from Windsor.
In an update on Friday, police announced they captured the third suspect in Windsor on Thursday. He now faces charges of two counts of first-degree murder along with arson causing property damage.
The 27-year-old Toronto man also faces charges of two counts of first-degree murder and arson causing property damage, as well as making or possessing an explosive substance.
The previously arrested 55-year-old man from Windsor is facing multiple charges too, including accessory after the fact to murder and arson causing property damage.
Police stated on Friday that the investigation continues and urged any witnesses who haven’t yet spoken to authorities or anyone with video evidence from the event to come forward.
