This year’s ceremony takes place on Oct. 6 in Midhurst

NEWS RELEASE
COUNTY OF SIMCOE
**********************
As communities across Canada celebrate National Seniors Day, the County of Simcoe is recognizing the people, businesses, and organizations that are working hard to make Simcoe County a friendlier, more accessible place for seniors through its annual Age-Friendly Recognition Awards.

During the summer, nominations were collected as part of the County’s Age-Friendly Community Program and were reviewed by the Age-Friendly Committee. This year’s awardees include representatives from various towns in the area, such as Collingwood, Midland, Wasaga Beach, Penetanguishene, and New Tecumseth; Clearview Township; along with Barrie and Orillia.

National Seniors Day is celebrated every year on Oct. 1. It’s a time to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions older adults make to our families, workplaces, and communities. The County’s Age-Friendly Recognition Awards embody this spirit by honoring individuals and groups dedicated to creating a community where seniors can age with dignity, connection, and purpose.

Event: County of Simcoe Age-Friendly Recognition Awards Where: County of Simcoe Administration Centre – Atrium – 1110 Highway 26, Midhurst, Ontario When: Tuesday, Oct. 6 – Reception at 6 p. m. – Ceremony begins at 6:30
