The yearly celebration begins at 6:00 p. m. tomorrow. Co-Chair Holly Vallee mentions that last year’s evening parade was really popular. “We’ve decided to stick with that based on the kind of information that was received from last year and the turnout that we had last year. You can expect to see lots of lights and lots of entertainment for the kids.” This year’s parade will start at Avondale Church, travel up Oxford Street, turn down Bidwell Street, pass by Tillsonburg Hospital and Woodingford Lodge, then continue down Broadway and finish at the staging area on Brock Street. Vallee expects the parade to take about an hour and a half to two hours. As of Thursday morning, around 60 participants had signed up for the parade, with more registrations still coming in. Vallee also pointed out something interesting. “What I am noticing is that there’s quite a few businesses that have opted to donate to either the Salvation Army or the Firefighter Fund. The firefighters do collect for the Salvation Army and we do have other businesses in there collecting for the Salvation Army and other causes and they’re actually choosing to make donations to those.” During the parade, they will be collecting non-perishable food items, coats, and toys.
