Last Wednesday’s Canada Day festivities at Memorial Park sparked a lot of discussion among Tillsonburg residents.
According to staff, the Bandshell was rented out to an outside individual who hired a DJ, and unfortunately, inappropriate language (which doesn’t align with the Town’s values) was used.
Additionally, during the fireworks show, the computer system responsible for igniting and timing the fireworks malfunctioned. Despite attempts by the operator to resolve it, the display ended much sooner than expected.
The contractor has taken responsibility for what happened and agreed to provide a “makeup” fireworks display on Labour Day, which will take place on Sunday, September 6th. More details will be shared as we get closer to the date.
The Town is committed to ensuring that entertainment at family-friendly events will be suitable for all ages in public spaces and looks forward to providing a great experience on Labour Day as well.
