The province’s Special Investigations Unit is looking into the situation regarding a serious injury sustained by a 26-year-old man last week in Tillsonburg.

On June 5 at around 12:30 p. m., officers from the Oxford OPP found a man and woman near Bridge Street West and Broadway Street who were being investigated for theft, according to the SIU.

The SIU reported that the man had fled from the scene but was apprehended by an officer who “took him to the ground.” After a struggle, he was eventually placed in handcuffs.

When he expressed that he was in pain, he was taken to the hospital “where he was diagnosed with serious injuries,” said the SIU.

Two investigators have been assigned to look into this case.

The SIU encourages anyone with information about this incident, including any video or photos, to reach out to the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online at: siu. on. ca/en/appeals. php

Sellers beware: Fraudsters posing as buyers to target vehicles

Police are asking for help from the public in identifying two individuals linked to a vehicle purchase scam in Langton.

At approximately 9 a. m. on Thursday, April 24, Norfolk OPP responded to reports of fraud on Highway 59.

This has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.

The investigation revealed that around 10 p. m. the previous night, two people visited a home after responding to an online ad for selling a vehicle.

After taking the vehicle – a grey 2008 Ford F-350 pickup truck with Ontario licence plates BL87963 – for a test drive, they claimed it had prior damage and used that as an excuse to offer less than what was originally agreed upon. Following this transaction, it became clear later that full payment hadn’t been received by the victim.

The police believe these scammers provided false identities and misrepresented the condition of the vehicle. They left with the vehicle without removing its licence plates.

The police think these suspects may be browsing online buy-and-sell sites and targeting several vehicle listings in their area.

The Norfolk County OPP Preventing Auto Theft Unit is investigating this matter and is reaching out for public assistance. Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 1-888-310-1122. To stay anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit an online tip at helpsolvecrime. com where you might qualify for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
